Each month throughout 2017, Delmanor Wynford has celebrated a different Province and Territory to honour Canada’s sesquicentennial anniversary. In August, Delmanor Wynford residents celebrated Nova Scotia, and what better way than to enjoy some fresh Nova Scotia Lobster! Chef James Gordon conducts monthly Chef Demonstrations at Delmanor Wynford, and decided to take residents to St. Lawrence Market prior to the demonstration to pick up local produce and a fresh lobster for his latest cooking demonstration.
Residents jumped to sign up for this interactive experience as it has been many years since some have visited St. Lawrence Market. Attendees were thrilled to accompany Chef James around the market to gather fresh produce, cheese, chorizo and more. The highlight was definitely the selection of the live lobster. The residents quickly decided to name their choice Wynford. Being at St. Lawrence Market was both a new experience for some residents, and one that brought back childhood memories, or memories of bringing their children to the market on a Saturday Morning.
The day of the Chef Demonstration, Chef James had a mouth watering menu to prepare that included:
- Lobster Salad on a Crostini
- Lobster Tail with Cherizo Corn Relish on a Herb Potato Medallion
- Warm Blueberry Tartlet with Orange Maple Chantilly Cream
The residents loved watching Chef James prepare these exquisite dishes, his passion for food and talent was evident for guests to enjoy. The items prepared were delicious, and left everyone wanting more!
