The World of Music Concert Series was hosted by Michael Garron Hospital (Formerly Toronto East General). Delmanor Wynford was fortunate to have had the opportunity to sponsor this event featuring the music of Lasso and Sini-Kan.
After playing for several years with various artists in Burkina Faso, Lasso came to Québec in 2009. He accompanied several artists until he set out and decided to establish his own group, Sini-Kan, meaning “voice of tomorrow” in Dyula.
Lasso has performed in various events, including the opening of the 2010 Winter Olympics in British Columbia, the Festival de la Musique de Québec and the Fête nationale du Québec. On stage, he is accompanied by five musicians and alternates between instruments, kamélé n’goni, Peul flutes and tamani. To compliment all of this instrumental talent, he is also a gifted vocalist.
Playing to an appreciative audience, Sini-Kan, drummed, sang and plucked their way through interesting instruments that Lasso even made with his own hands! Everyone came together in the joyous sounds of the talented musicians. The urge to move or dance was irresistible in an audience ranging in ages from 2 to 92!
This is the third concert of the series, with the fourth planned for this Summer.
