For the first time ever, Delmanor celebrated Active Aging Week at all 5 of the Delmanor communities.
“Initiated in 2003 by the International Council on Active Aging® (ICAA), Active Aging Week takes place each year during the last week of September. The week long campaign calls attention to and wholeheartedly celebrates the positivity of aging today.
Active Aging Week challenges society’s diminished expectations of aging by showing that, regardless of age or health conditions, adults over 50 can live as fully as possible in all areas of life—physical, social, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational and environmental. The objective of the annual health-promotion event is to give as many older adults as possible the means to experience wellness activities and exercise in a safe, supportive environment. It also promotes the benefits of healthier, more active lifestyles across the entire life span.
Delmanor focused on a different theme of Active Aging each day such as nutrition, brain fitness, movement, balance, and dancing. The Delmanor LivingWell Coaches started a line dancing program in September that culminated in a giant team and resident performance to the song Love Potion #9. Two communities hosted wellness fairs that featured services and products for seniors such as orthotics, essential oils and massage therapy. There were also brain fitness seminars and urban poling classes.
Delmanor celebrates their resident’s successes every single day of the year and look forward to continuing to provide exemplary programming to encourage active aging!
