Canadian regulations have changed and so has the variety of products we have access to!

Some of the new products that are generating interest have been found to help people living with; chronic pain, sleeplessness, arthritis, cancer, fibromyalgia, migraines, anxiety, PTSD, depression, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson, back pain, diabetic neuropathy, inflammation and seizures.

Stigma and safety related to medical marijuana are key factors. Apollo, a Cannabis Clinic, has been successfully prescribing medical cannabis to patients across Canada. Companies like this look specifically at a person’s needs, chart progress and review medical history. Their goal is to help improve quality of life and make people feel comfortable with their new treatment options.

The active ingredients in cannabis act on specific receptors call cannabinoid receptors which are located throughout the body. Research studies have shown that these receptors control various symptoms including pain, inflammation, sleep/waking cycle and much more.

Kim Lam M.D. from Apollo updated residents on a variety of products and different forms. Kim addressed expectations and helped the audience understand the different components such as THC and the non-psychoactive CBD.  She explained the differences between licensed producers and dispensaries, and educated the group about the strict requirements audited by Health Canada.
