Culinary delights are an integral part of what is offered at all Delmanor Seniors Communities.
At Delmanor Northtown an Oyster Bar was opened on the lovely garden terrace on a warm sunny afternoon. Fresh oysters were prepared and served on the spot by the culinary team. Everyone enjoyed watching the unique preparation techniques and the art of tipping fresh oysters into your mouth!
Anthony from Ocean Miracle Seafood, a company well known for providing varieties of quality fish and seafood products, joined the Delmanor Northtown Chefs for this fun culinary experience. It was truly a pleasure to interact with the Chefs that had delightful personalities and were happy to demonstrate their knife skills and offer tips on the best way to shuck an oyster.
There is a more to it than most people are aware of. To shuck a fresh oyster you must use the delicate process of opening the shell and removing the meat without losing the oyster’s nectar. In the shells, oysters are placed on a mound of crushed ice to reach the ideal temperature. There were a variety of wonderful seasonings to spice them up, some of the favorite flavors were touches of lemon juice, vodka, tabasco and horseradish.
