Lianne Harris is a social studies resource specialist for the Toronto District School Board that has honed her many years of teaching history into engaging, dynamic experiences enjoyed by a variety of audiences.
To date, Lianne has taught over 70,000 students and teachers in her interactive and inspiring presentations that are geared to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
Lianne was recently asked to develop a special series of one hour adult education presentations and discussion topics that are especially suited for mature audiences (55+) who are looking to be educated and intellectually stimulated while being entertained at the same time.
Lianne recently came to Delmanor Glen Abbey to deliver her exciting presentation on India, her 10,000 year journey. Residents and community guests were first treated to a delicious meal of butter chicken, basmati rice, okra mixed with green peppers and naan bread. As always, Lianne’s presentations never disappoint! She entertained the group with a slideshow and provided fascinating facts about India’s culture and history. Lianne has lots of first hand knowledge as she has visited India on numerous occasions visiting her parents that had resided in India for many years.
The audience loved learning about some of the interesting facts about India, such as the sheer size of India’s population. From being only 1/3 the size of the U.S, it is the second most populous country in the world. India also produces 70% of the world’s spices, and has the lowest meat consumption per person in the world.
Everyone in attendance thoroughly enjoyed Lianne’s presentation and learned a great deal about this ancient country and its fascinating culture!
