Historical East York Presentation at Delmanor Wynford

Alan Redway is a Canadian lawyer and former politician. After a career in municipal politics culminating in the role of Mayor of East York, Redway entered into federal politics. He went on to become a member of Brian Mulroney’s cabinet and has since authored two books, ‘East York 1924-1997: Toronto’s Garden of Eden‘, and ‘Governing Toronto: Bringing Back the City that Worked‘. Alan enjoys going on book tours and offering presentations to groups about his fascinating perspective of East York, both from a political and historical outlook.

Alan Redway has written an extensive history of ‘a small town within a big city’. On his book tours, he speaks about East York’s beginnings from the Township of York, incorporated in 1840, through decades of independent townships and villages leading to present day metro Toronto.

Redway gives arguably the best and most detailed account of East York. Residents commented on what an absolute pleasure it was to listen to his wealth of knowledge, and was especially intriguing for those with personal connections to the area.

The Delmanor Wynford Residents are excited to have Redway return to the residence in January as a guest presenter. For details on this and other events coming to Delmanor Wyford, please click here.
