Celebrating Robbie Burns Day each year is always a lot of fun for the Delmanor Glen Abbey residents. This year, the haggis, along with delicious hors d’oeuvres and the sound of bagpipes was complimented by a wonderful highland dance performance by a talented local dance group.
The Residents love when their events and celebrations include members of their community and showcase local talent. Bringing neighbors together is a wonderful way to build a sense of community and to recognize all of the extraordinary talent living in our very own neighborhood. The dancers were exceptional! Residents commented on the wonderful show and how this performance further enhanced their Robbie Burns Day celebration.
Many people are not aware that Robbie Burns wrote the iconic song “Auld Lang Syne’ that most of us sing to ring in the New year at midnight on New Years Eve. To celebrate the poet’s 261st birthday, Delmanor Glen Abbey honored Scotland, it’s traditions, food and culture in this much loved annual event.
‘Here’s a bottle and an honest man –
What would ye wish for mair, man.
Wha kens, before his life may end,
What his share may be o’ care, man.
So catch the moments as they fly,
And use them as ye ought, man.
Believe me, happiness is shy,
And comes not aye when sought, man.’ ~Robbie Burns
