Although Oktoberfest has been cancelled in Munich this year, the Delmanor Glen Abbey Residents enjoyed a wonderful celebration in the safety of their own homes in honour of this annual tradition.
As the world’s largest beer fest that has been held annually in Munich Germany since 1810, there has only been twenty five years in its history that Oktoberfest has not been celebrated and that includes the periods during WWI and WWII.
The Glen Abbey Culinary team prepared traditional schnitzel and sausages for the Residents for an Oktoberfest themed lunch that was loved by all. Residents enjoyed sipping beer while listening to a wonderful musical performer dressed in his lederhosen while performing traditional German songs on the courtyard.
Residents enjoyed celebrating Oktoberfest with friends while also learning about the history of Oktoberfest and the significance of its cancellation in Germany this year.
