Events

Lecture: Elizabeth Simcoe

Tuesday, August 9th at 2:30 pm (In-person event)

Historian Richard Fiennes-Clinton will be back to introduce us to writer and artist Elizabeth Simcoe. Brought up in England, Elizabeth was the wife of John Simcoe, the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada. It’s from her descriptive writings and watercolors that we have such a detailed account of colonial life in Ontario in the late 1700’s and early 19th century.

Lecture: Snowbirds: Canada’s Aerobatics

Tuesday, August 12th at 2:30 pm (In-person event)

Our very own resident and retired Captain Fred McCague will discuss his time with the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds. He was an original pilot in the aerobatic flight demonstration squadron in 1971 – its inaugural year – and lived to tell the tell of flying in formation with eight other jets, as close as one meter apart, at air shows all around the world. It’s sure to be an awe-inspiring presentation!
